About Sandhole Cottages

Jointly owned by Adam and Olivia Matthews and Adam’s sister and brother in law Anna and David Revitt this was a huge restoration project with the farm’s heritage and beauty at the heart of it. All the self catering cottages have been beautifully restored in line with listed building heritage requirements. They are uniquely decorated to a very high specification, using largely reclaimed materials, local craftsmen and sustainable resources. Step inside the cottages and we hope you appreciate the eclectic mix of old and new, with no attention to detail or luxury spared where we can we have reused, reclaimed or upcycled to create the perfect haven for you to enjoy.

History

Situated in the grounds of a stunning Seventeenth Century oak framed thatched Farm House, Grade 2 listed Sandhole Cottages are set in what once were the farm’s outbuildings. Sandhole Farm and its grounds have had many guises over the years and were bought by us in July 2018 and lovingly restored to Sandhole Cottages and Livery. Over the course of 2 years the outbuildings have been transformed from what were historically animal shelter and haylofts to four beautiful and unique cottages. All cottages are built with stunning Cheshire handmade brick replaced with reclaimed brick where necessary, we have even left some of the inside walls exposed creating a beautiful feature in our rooms. Our Welsh slate roof tiles have been meticulously restored and repaired with the addition of Velux windows for you to enjoy the endless view from. Take a wander around the cottage grounds and your feet will fall on beautifully restored sandstone flags and original cobbles. We look forward to making our very own little bit of history with you soon.

Sustainability

Sustainability and environmental impact play a huge part in our ethos. The cottages have been designed with sustainability in mind with the majority of materials used being restored or reclaimed. Alongside this all our heating and hot water is provided through ground source heat pumps powered by solar panels with battery storage. Our rain water harvesting tanks provide the water to flush the toilets and water for use in the livery yard. All of our toiletries and cleaning products provided are environmentally friendly and refilled where we can. Livery

Sandhole Cottages are set in the heart of a working equestrian centre. Whether you are holidaying with your horses, have a passion for all things equestrian and use us as a base for the wealth of local events or simply enjoy being in the tranquillity of the open countryside around these stunning animals Sandhole Cottages offers something for everyone. If you get a taste for a canter Cheshire Riding School is just a short distance away with a wealth of activities for novices through to naturals. Anna our equestrian expert is on site so please ask her if you have any questions and she will be happy to help.
