Sandhole Horse Holidays

Sandhole Livery is a small and well-maintained livery yard based in the quiet grounds of Sandhole Farm in the Cheshire countryside. Accommodating up to eleven livery horses alongside our own. We offer holiday accommodation for your horses with paddocks for up to five horses and stables for two.  Holiday livery is on a DIY basis but with owners on site other services can be available on request if booked ahead.

Imagine waking up on a morning and looking straight out onto your horse enjoying a morning mooch.  Your horse will have it’s very own stables and paddocks away from the main livery yard and overlooking your cottage.  Your horse is free to graze out 24/7 most of the year on the meadow grass paddock, weather and ground permitting.  Holiday liveries also have use of Sandhole’s private onsite sand and fibre arena with optional jumps

There is a wealth of things to do with your horse whilst staying with us from guided rides, exploring the magical Delamere Forest or visiting the nearby Kelsall Hill Equestrian Centre or Somerford Park Equestrian Centre.  Finish your day back in the luxury of your holiday cottage.  Ease those aching muscles with a dip in the hot tub whilst watching your horse graze peacefully in the paddock.

Anna, Livery Manager

As one of the co-owners of Sandhole Holiday Cottages and Livery Anna lives on site with her husband David, their four rescue lurchers and two farm cats.  Originally trained as a nurse after fourteen years in practice Anna left to start up her own animal care business which she ran successfully for nine years in Sheffield before moving to Sandhole Farm.  As an avid horse lover herself she owns three beautiful horses, Solo an ex race horse and two young sport horses Vinnie and Dento who she hopes to event in the years to come.  Having studied to level two BHS and completed the horse owners certificate she is on hand to help with any aspects of livery

There is a wealth of fun things for you to do with your horses whilst staying at Sandhole Cottages. On our doorstep we have beautiful country lane rides leading you to the stunning Delamere Forest and Whitegate way where you can ride for miles off road. 10 minutes by trailer to Kelsall Hill Equestrian Centre and gallops, or just 35 minutes to the renowned Somerford Park. You can even treat yourself and your horse to a gallop along the breath-taking west coast beaches of Formby or Talacre which are both within a 50 minute drive. To explore further please click here.

Should you wish to brush up on your skills we have a list of very good instructors in the area who we can arrange lessons with, be it in our own onsite sand and fibre arena with a multitude of show jumps or at one of the local cross country centres.  We also have an onsite Thereplate available for hire, to learn more follow us at Delamere Theraplate.   You can also follow our stable antics on Instagram or Facebook.   Anna is hugely involved in the local equine community so if there is anything else you require please do not hesitate to ask

DIY Livery stable and paddock
£20 per day

We can provide bedding and hay at current cost subject to availability. We do not provide haylage so this would need to be booked in advance or bring your own.
All horses must be vaccinated as per current veterinary guidelines and passports must be shown before and on arrival.
